Budget Buddy
Project: BudgetBuddy App
The Problem
Most personal finance apps are either too complicated for the average user or too simple to be useful. Users often feel overwhelmed by complex graphs and data entry, leading them to abandon their budgeting goals. The challenge was to design a finance app that is both powerful and incredibly simple to use, encouraging users to build and maintain healthy financial habits.
My Role
As the UI/UX Designer for BudgetBuddy, I handled the end-to-end design, including:
User Research and identifying user pain points with existing finance apps.
Mapping out core user flows for tasks like adding expenses and setting budgets.
Creating low-fidelity wireframes and iterating on user feedback.
Designing the final high-fidelity UI and interactive prototype.
The Process
The design process started with competitor analysis and user interviews to understand why people "fail" at budgeting. The key insight was that users dread the process of tracking. They want to see their financial status at a glance without complex steps.
Using this, I focused on a "one-tap" expense feature. I sketched initial concepts, moved to wireframes in Figma to test the app's navigation, and finally built a clean, high-fidelity prototype. The visual design uses simple colors and clear typography to make financial data feel calm and easy to understand, not stressful.
The Solution & Impact
The result is BudgetBuddy, an app that simplifies personal finance down to its essentials. It features a clear dashboard, smart suggestions, and an effortless way to track spending. The app helps users feel in control of their money without the overwhelming clutter of traditional budget tools.
